Welcome to the new Black Book Singles! Over the past year, the team behind the free online dating site has been hard at work with a significant number of changes to improve your overall experience. Today marks our official relaunch.
Black Book Singles was originally created as an alternative to paid dating sites, allowing internet goers a 100% free opportunity to meet local strangers for friendship, dating, and creating a foundation for relationships. After going live in August 2008, the site slowly accumulated new users, reaching over 7,000 members. Despite being a sizeable number in itself, the site proved difficult to use, limiting the potential for users like you to meet local singles.
Now, after undergoing a complete redesign from the ground up, we’re ready to help connect you with others like never before. Here is an overview of the changes to date:
- New layout and color scheme.
- Improved navigation and page flow.
- Automatic profile searching within your geographic region.
- Ability to search by U.S. postal codes when searching profiles (instead of just city/region).
- Neighboring user’s profiles are prominently displayed on profile pages.
- Improved messaging center, including the ability to “wink” at other members.
- Implemented a new feature to see who visited your profile.
- Ability to report spam messages, fake profiles, and inappropriate forum posts to site administrators.
- Numerous bug fixes and issues addressed.
In addition, there have also been a number of changes to the back-end system that will help Black Book Singles users in the long term:
- Improved site speed with improved coding practices and database structure.
- Newer and better geographic database being used.
- Optimized for higher search engine placement, bringing more users into our online dating community.
- Reusable code, reducing the time required to discover and fix current issues.
The set-up behind the new website will allow our technical team to more easily develop new site features.
